Inspiring women and fabulous headwear – both were on full display at Interfaith’s Women’s Forum on Antisemitism and Islamophobia on April 28th!
Nearly one hundred women from across Colorado gathered to enjoy tea, scones, mini sandwiches, and honor the history of women gathering over tea to connect, discuss, and build community.
Our 2025 Women’s Forum was part of Interfaith’s Ikeda Dialogue Series, which focuses on complex issues in order to create spaces for dialogue and deepened understanding. This joint discussion on antisemitism and Islamophobia included words of welcome from Governor Jared Polis, Interfaith Alliance of Colorado CEO, Shara Smith, and two powerful, women panelists from the Muslim and Jewish communities – Rabbi Emily Hyatt from Temple Emanuel, as well as civil rights attorney and community advocate, Azra Taslimi.
The headwear was impressive, including a tiara capped hijab! However, what was most impressive was the passion, authenticity, sincerity, and kindness with which both panelists spoke. Sharing perspectives on the rise of and impact of Islamophobia and antisemitism on their respective communities, Taslimi and Hyatt displayed incredible expertise in navigating such complex topics in a way that fostered mutual respect and understanding.
Guests of the Women’s Forum included Baptists, Presbyterians, Catholics, Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, Mormons, Unitarians, Agnostics, and more!
The discussion was exceptionally powerful, particularly with the two panelists representing differing viewpoints. The moderation was excellent, and I believe everyone left with a greater understanding of the complexity of these issues and increased empathy for all. Thank you!

We are deeply grateful to our incredible panelists, our courageous guests, and Governor Polis for reminding us all of the importance of learning to disagree better.
As Interfaith Alliance of Colorado CEO Shara Smith stated, “this is a beginning, not an end.” For those who were unable to join us this time around, please know that we will continue these discussions on antisemitism, Islamophobia, and more throughout the year. We welcome our Muslim and Jewish brother and sisters, as well as the larger community, in courageous dialogue despite the complexity of the times.
Thank you all so much!
