An Interfaith Look at the 2025 Colorado Legislative Session

Welcome to Interfaith’s annual legislative report!  As spring turns to summer, we again take a step back to reflect on what happened and the learnings we will carry forward into future policy work. Below, you will find a digital legislative report as well as our full PDF legislative report that will walk you through some of our findings.

Our ongoing work at the Capitol is a critical element of Interfaith’s strategy to advance true religious freedom and the common values of people of faith and conscience, and, as you will note in our updated logo, “achieving democracy together.”

Recently, at our forum on antisemitism and Islamophobia, the Governor joined us to talk about the importance of “disagreeing better”.  In the weeks after the forum, we have spent a lot of time reflecting on this concept and how we can fortify our commitment to achieving democracy together despite many complex social challenges.  Interfaith work can teach us a lot about fostering dialogue, making space for different beliefs and approaches, and how our fates are tied together – illustrating the interconnectedness of democracy and religious freedom.

Within the pages of the report, you will find selected quotes from our committee testimony on a variety of topics.  The common thread is that we strive to connect our positions back to common values and invite legislators to make those connections too.

By acting in accordance with our values, we can be a powerful example for others, including the policymakers in our state.  By listening to understand and without judgment, we can be better and more thoughtful advocates.  And, by being unwavering in our commitment to justice, compassion, and true religious freedom, we affirm the moral foundations of our democratic experiment.

Thank you for your interest in our work at the legislature, and for being a supporter of the Interfaith Alliance of Colorado!
