Interfaith CEO, Shara Smith, Selected for 2025 Roots of Progress Award!

We are thrilled to announce that our fabulous CEO, Shara Smith, will be receiving the Roots of Progress Award from Progress Now Colorado for her leadership in Interfaith’s work towards protecting Reproductive Rights in our state!

As one of the co-chairs for the coalition that supported the Coloradans for Protecting Reproductive Freedom Campaign, Shara went above and beyond to bring the interfaith perspective on reproductive rights, freedom, and justice to communities across Colorado. Culminating in the passage of Amendment 79 in Colorado’s 2024 November election, Interfaith was deeply proud to be a part of the work of the Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice coalition.

“When we create public policy based on one faith tradition or even a faction of one faith tradition, we inevitably infringe on the rights of all those who do not practice that faith. This is why Interfaith is committed to this work. For us, this is about true religious freedom,” explained Shara.

As the only faith-based organization in the coalition, Interfaith was dedicated to representing and elevating the diverse perspectives and traditions of Colorado faith communities when it comes to reproductive healthcare. We continue to strive to protect these sacred decisions in Colorado, whether at the legislature, through educating the public, or by advocating in our state and local elections.

Congratulations to Shara on being selected for this award! Our thanks to Progress Now Colorado for recognizing her leadership and expertise.

And, to our faith partners who steadfastly supported us in this work, we remain deeply honored for your partnership!
