From March through June of this year, the Supreme Court of the United States released their opinions on court cases relating to a number of topics affecting Americans around the country and in Colorado. As many of these cases will impact policy in Colorado, the policy team at the Interfaith Alliance of Colorado has been hard at work analyzing the 2026 opinions on cases relevant to our guiding principles of protecting democracy, protecting religious freedom, and protecting marginalized communities. For the second year in a row, we have created our Supreme Court Digest in order to inform Coloradans of faith and conscience about how the court’s decisions may affect Colorado’s public policy.
Interfaith recognizes how important it is that people of faith and conscience are informed on developments in law and policy and what they mean for our communities.
While there are many cases that may impact Interfaith’s focus areas, we have chosen six cases to delve into more deeply that have the biggest impact. This year’s Digest will focus on:
- Chiles v. Salazar,
- Louisiana v. Callais
- Landor v. Louisiana Dept. of Corrections
- Trump v. Barbara
- Little v. Hecox and
- West Virginia v. B.P.J.
Other cases relevant to Interfaith’s focus areas include:
- Mullin v. Doe
- Watson v. Republican National Committee
- National Republican Senatorial Committee v. FEC and
- Chatrie v. United States
