The Vote Is Sacred 2026

“Your vote is precious, almost sacred. It is the most powerful nonviolent tool or instrument in a democratic society. We must use it.”

– Rep. John Lewis

As an independent, nonpartisan organization that puts common faith values at the heart of everything we do, Interfaith is proud to proclaim, alongside our national organization Interfaith Alliance, that The Vote Is Sacred!

At its core, voting is the most accessible way for an individual to engage with governance and to have a say in policy that impacts their day-to-day life. A voter has direct access to make their voice heard without needing permission, organizational membership, or a public display in favor of one policy or another. That is why Interfaith’s team is committed to improving voting rights and limiting risks and barriers to voting.

“Across diverse religious traditions, we share a conviction that every voice deserves to be heard. Voting is how. In 2026, people of diverse faiths and beliefs are rising together to defend that sacred act from intimidation, disinformation, and those who would decide our elections for us.”

This election season, opponents of democracy are trying to make voting more difficult by keeping eligible Americans from voting and creating barriers to how we vote. That is why Interfaith is providing voting resources leading up to the election, including our Vote Your Values Guide (available September 24th!), and will have Poll Chaplains present at some polling locations around the state on Election Day (November 3rd).

Voting is a sacred right that reflects our common responsibility and privilege to foster our multifaith, pluralistic democracy.

Make a plan to vote!
  1. Verify your registration or register to vote!
    • You can register to vote at www.GoVoteColorado.gov or by using a printable paper registration form that can be found on the Secretary of State’s website. CO allows voters to register up to and including election day! Registering on election day must be done at a local polling place, and you must bring an accepted form of ID. If you know or think you are registered to vote, you can visit the CO Secretary of State’s website to confirm and update voter information.
  2. Select a Method of Voting!
    • There are several ways to vote in Colorado.
    • If you plan to vote by mail, make sure your ballot will get there by election day. This can vary a lot from post office to post office, so vote early if you want to vote by mail. If you register in time and receive a ballot in the mail, you can turn it in as soon as the ballot boxes open all the way until 7 p.m. on Election Day.
    • If you would like to vote in-person, check online or call your county clerk to learn the location of the closest polling place! If you plan to vote in-person, make sure you have a transportation plan so you can get to the polling place and in line to vote before 7 p.m. on Election Day.
  3. Gathering Info About What Is On Your Ballot!
    • Before you vote, it is important to know what you are voting on! The candidates and measures on your ballot can have a profound impact on your day-to-day life and your community.
    • The 2026 Blue Book will be mailed out to voters before the election and contains information on the statewide ballot measures. Voting guides (like Vote Your Values!) can also provide useful and easy to digest information about what and who is on your ballot.
Get your community to the polls!

Talk to your colleagues, friends, family, faith communities, and others about why the vote is sacred! Ask if they have made a plan to vote, have a way to drop off their ballots or get to the polls on election day, and share information about what is on the ballot this year.
