Muslims uphold the principle of Raḥmah, meaning mercy and compassion. A foundational value in Islam, Raḥmah is essential to one’s relationship with God and creation, and shapes every dimension of faith and daily life. It reflects mercy, love, and care, all of which flow from one of God’s greatest attributes: “Ar-Raḥmān” (The Most Compassionate) and “Ar-Raḥīm” (The Most Merciful).
In Islam, compassion is both a divine attribute and a moral responsibility. It guides social relations, justice, and spiritual growth. As the Qur’an beautifully summarizes: “The servants of the Most Compassionate are those who walk upon the earth humbly, and when the ignorant address them harshly, they respond with peace.” (Qur’an 25:63)
