Norse and Germanic Heathens value compassion in the form of loyalty, hospitality, and care for family, community, and guests. Odin’s wisdom poems, the Hávamál, teach generosity and caring for others. One passage says, “Give warmth to the freezing; food to the starving; for no one knows when they themselves may need help.”
In Celtic tradition, Maithis / Déirc, meaning kindness, charity, or generosity is a core principle. In Celtic lore, stories of Brigid highlight healing, hospitality, and caring for the poor or sick. Many Celtic tales honor generosity and warn against greed or cruelty. Celtic-inspired paths emphasize generosity, hospitality, and the sacred duty to offer kindness and healing, much like the goddess Brigid, who is associated with healing and compassion.
